May 19th, 2018
Graduation Day for the Class of 2018 is Saturday, May 19th. The Ceremony will take place from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at Zellerbach Hall, with the Reception immediately following from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM on Minor Plaza. In the weeks before graduation, the Admissions and Student Affairs Office will hold an information session on graduation matters, including a walk-through of the procession, and will go over all administrative paperwork that students need to submit before Saturday’s ceremony.
Each graduate will receive ten tickets to give out to guests to attend the ceremony. The tickets will be distributed through the Class Presidents during Old Home Week. Please instruct your guests to keep their ticket stubs from the Zellerbach ceremony to be used as their ticket to enter the Reception at Minor Plaza.
You may order your own personalized graduation announcements to share your achievement with friends and family. Please note that these announcements cannot be used in place of graduation tickets so each guest will need a ticket to attend. Graduation Regalia (tams, gowns, and hoods) will be rented. Do NOT purchase regalia directly from the bookstore. The Admissions and Student Affairs staff will coordinate regalia rentals. We will send out sign-ups for Regalia in early February.
For out-of-town guests, we suggest the Graduate Berkeley Hotel (formerly Durant Hotel), one of the options closest to Minor Hall. To book, please have your guests contact the Hotel Durant directly at 1-800-238-7268 and mention "UC Berkeley School of Optometry Commencement" to receive a 15% discount for guests who are visiting in conjunction with a UC Berkeley sanctioned event.
