ViSUR Application Deadline Approaching!

The Vision Science Summer Undergraduate Research (ViSUR) Program is an 8-week, in-person, fellowship program that provides undergraduate students the opportunity to explore all aspects of the human eye through the connection of neurobiology, bioengineering, public health, psychology, and more. UC Berkeley’s Vision Science community is led by a number of interdisciplinary faculty, excited to work with you on research topics ranging from building instruments to measure properties of the eye to vestibular ocular reflex.

Learn More About ViSUR

ViSUR brings together undergraduate students across all disciplines who are at any stage of their learning journey for an interdisciplinary and collaborative introduction to the study of vision and its relation to cognition, action, and the brain. Students will learn from world-leading vision scientists who are committed to fostering student research and critical inquiry skills, while investigating cutting-edge topics like virtual reality, gaze systems, and augmented reality – to name only a few. This fellowship opportunity will give insight to a new understanding of the human eye while allowing students to gain one-on-one guidance and mentorship from research faculty at the forefront of discovery.

Who Is Eligible?

Eligibility is currently restricted to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. Students with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) are also eligible to apply. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program at a four or two-year college in the U.S. with plans to return to their home institution in Fall 2023. Applicants must be currently a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior.
