Chancellors Chair in Neuro-Optometry

The five-year appointment will support Teresa Puthussery's groundbreaking retinal research.

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Teresa Puthussery has been selected as the first recipient of the Herbert Wertheim Chancellor's Chair in Neuro-Optometry. The appointment is for a five-year term, effective July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2031. This chair provides an annual scholarly allowance of $25,000.

Professor Puthussery, who also recently received a "MacArthur Genius" Grant," for discoveries about the retina that are paving the way for new treatments for eye disease and vision loss, will use the allowance to continue her important and groundbreaking research. Congratulations, Dr. Puthussery!
