Shubham Maurya, PhD

Research Interests
I started my graduate studies in India at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur by engineering viral vectors for efficient gene delivery. I moved to the University of California, Berkeley for my postdoctoral research career in 2020. I am in my fourth year of postdoctoral research in Dr. Gronert’s Lab at the Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry and Vision Science. During my postdoctoral career, I have worked on understanding the role and regulation of neuroprotective lipid mediators in the retina and optic nerve under neurodegenerative conditions. My scientific vision is to discover novel targets and find putative treatment options for neuro-ophthalmic diseases by utilizing the potential of cutting-edge technologies in molecular and computational biology.
