WHERE I'M FROM
I hail from Nepal, where I completed my undergraduate studies in optometry and vision science at the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), Bir Hospital.
BEFORE VS
Before starting my PhD, I worked as a consultant optometrist at the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology, focusing on pediatric eye care within community settings. Upon graduation, I also served as a Teaching Assistant (TA) and Research Assistant (RA) in optometry, where I developed a deeper interest in the field.
MY GOALS
I aspire to contribute to the global effort in combating the myopia epidemic by developing innovative control strategies that can influence public health policies and clinical practices. My long-term goal is to transition into academia, where I can lead research, mentor future optometrists & vision scientists, and advocate for improved eye care policies, especially in Nepal. I am committed to advocating for women in STEM, striving to empower more women to pursue careers in science and technology, and promoting gender equity within the scientific community.
MY RESEARCH
I aim to study childhood myopia and the means to intervene. I also want to explore facets of adult progressive myopia and how it distinguishes itself from childhood progressive myopia. I am interested in exploring pharmaceutical and behavioral modification techniques in combating myopia from the grassroots level.
MY HOBBIES
When I'm not immersed in research, I love reading, cooking, and traveling to new places. Exploring different cultures and cuisines has always been a source of inspiration for me, both personally and professionally.
