WHERE I'M FROM

Irbid, Jordan

BEFORE VS

I earned my B.S. in Optometry from Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), and a Master’s degree in Pptometry from University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia. Before coming to UC Berkeley, I worked as a lecturer and clinic coordinator in JUST. My clinical interests include refractive error management, binocular vision treatments and learning disability.

WHY I’M HERE

I am interested in finding new methods to delay and slow down the development and progression of myopia, to prevent visual deterioration related to complicating ocular pathologies, and binocular vision deficits that may arise during the course of myopia development. The prevalence of myopia has also been rapidly rising, already reaching epidemic levels in some East-Asian countries. The Vision Science program at UC Berkeley is the finest interdisciplinary program of its type, and the best faculty researchers.

MY RESEARCH

I’m currently working on investigating the effects of electronic device use and specifically, screen settings on myopia development and progression. Of particular interest to me are the blue light and contrast polarity settings, with appropriate choices plausibly having positive benefits for myopia progression/development.

MY GOALS

Two broad goals are to improve my skills in research and teaching.

MY HOBBIES

I enjoy exploring new places and gardening. In addition, watching my child growing up fast.
