Crystalline lens accommodation: presbyopia and myopia.
Presbyopia is the age-related loss of dynamic ability to focus at different distances. Myopia results from a mismatch between the optical power of the eye’s optics and axial length. The seminar will present quantitative technologies to characterize morphological, structural and mechanical properties of the crystalline lens, critically involved in presbyopia and myopia. These technologies include 3D quantitative anterior segment optical coherence tomography, aberrometry and adaptive optics, and will allow not only to shed light into accommodation, aging and myopia, but into new alternatives for their correction.
