Would you like to be able to see clearly during the day without wearing glasses or contact lenses?
We are investigating how
orthokeratology (corneal
reshaping with contact lenses worn overnight)
may affect certain
aspects of vision and
would like to give you
the opportunity to try this procedure.
Does the following describe
you? Between 18 – 30 years
old
Low to moderate myopia (< -5.00 D, astigmatism ≤ 1.00 D)
Normal visual acuity (ability to see fine detail) with glasses
No prior gas permeable contact lens wear
What does the project involve?
1.One screening session, lasting for about 60 minutes. We will verify that your refractive
error and focusing ability
meets our requirements prior to the start of measurements and at this time,
you will also be asked to fill out a questionnaire about your eyes.
2.First measurement session, lasting for about 90 minutes. We will measure how
well you focus, the optical quality and the peripheral focusing error of your eyes. Your eyes will
then be dilated and the focusing error re-measured.
3.Contact lens fitting and aftercare visits (as needed).
4.Second measurement session (after approximately 4 weeks of contact lens wear): same
procedures as first session.
5.Third measurement session (after approximately 6 months of lens wear), lasting
for about 30 minutes. We will measure how well you focus and the optical quality of your
eyes.
6.Fourth measurement session (after approximately 12 months of lens wear): same
procedures as third session.
When? We will find a suitable time for you when you contact
us.
What is
in it for you?
You will receive contact
lenses and lens care solutions, and be provided with contact lens fitting and
aftercare services by an
optometrist for the duration of the study.
You will have access to the
information we find out about your focusing ability and the optical quality of
your eyes.
You will be paid $20
for the first and second measurement sessions, and $10 for the third and
fourth sessions.
