Funding is available for most Vision Science PhD students. Many students receive 5 years of financial assistance in one form or another. Information is provided below to assist applicants in their financial planning.

The ANNUAL fees shown in the first table are provided as a courtesy and are not meant to be official figures. Fees may be subject to change. Students should refer to the Registrar's Office for the latest official figures (graduate academic students).

Graduate students should also budget for personal expenses in addition to the mandated fees listed above. The Financial Aid Office has computed the following budgets to help you estimate the average cost for a graduate student during an academic year (nine months). Budgets for the following academic year will be revised to account for changes in the cost of living:

*Estimates for the table shown above are based on information provided by the UC Berkeley Financial Aid Office and cover only the 9-month academic year. Estimates apply to single students. You can expect to add approximately $5,000 if accompanied by a spouse, $3,000 for each child, and $2,900 for summer expenses.
