Congratulations Emily Ward, MSc and Shruthi Karnam, PhD from the Flanagan Lab (in conjunction with the Gronert Lab).

Vision Science PhD student Emily Ward and Postdoctoral Scholar Shruthi Karnam have been selected as recipients of the Association for Research in Vision and Opthalmology's (ARVO) Science Communication Training Fellowship. The ARVO Science Communication Training Fellowship is an intensive and competitive one-year program designed to enhance science communication and advocacy skills among early-career researchers within the vision science community.

"Since 2017, the fellowship has empowered early-career scientists to communicate their complex vision research in clear and engaging ways to improve understanding, foster excitement, and inspire action and engagement amongst the public, media, legislators and other key stakeholders." – ARVO

On another note, Emily was also awarded the Graduate Student Instructor Course Improvement Grant by the UC Berkeley Graduate Division for her project "Enriching Student Learning with a New Anatomy Model." Congratulations, Emily and Shruthi!
