Guidelines for Cryostat Use

All users of this facility must comply with these Guidelines.

Codes to the scintillation room housing the Leica CM 1900 Cryostat will be issued by Facilities Manager Linda Schmidt, after a tutorial on cryostat maintenance and room conduct by Biology CORE Coordinator.

• Users must sign-up for time on the internet at the following website:
http://coresrv.berkeley.edu/www-sched/index.cgi

• When using the cryostat, wedge the door open for your safety

• If you leave the room at all, close the door firmly behind you

• Leave the cryostat on at all times in order to maintain the chamber temperature

• Notify the Biology CORE Coordinator of any problems you may encounter with the cryostat so repairs or maintenance can be promptly conducted

• When you have finished your work, clean the chamber as best as you can
