Title
"How much retinal defocus does a human infant habitually experience?"
Abstract
Human refractive error typically diminishes over the first postnatal
year, while the neural visual system is undergoing significant development.
The progression of both processes is critically dependent on visual
experience and the quality of the retinal image integrated over time.
We currently understand only a little about the retinal defocus experienced
by the normal infant. The work presented will explore the retinal
defocus signals experienced in an infant's natural environment. These
data will be interpreted within the context of emmetropization and
neural development.
